How do I make my association dues payments?

Coupon books for association dues are mailed to each home owner. There are separate booklets for the CHE Association and your individual Village dues.

Who is Courthouse Estates association management service and what do they do?

The current Courthouse Estates association management company is United Property Associates (UPA). They are contracted by the CHE Board of Directors to provide services such as collections, supervision of subcontractors, obtaining bids for subcontracted services, providing financial statements and collection reports, as well as a general clearing house for problem solving, communications with homeowners and the Board of Directors, and to serve in an advisory capacity. The community association management company reports directly to the Board and all decisions are made by a majority vote of the Board of Directors. How many home owner votes are required to approve changes to association by laws?

There are 1157 homes in Courthouse Estates. Home owners must be present at the meeting scheduled for the vote or submit their votes by proxy. In order to approve changes the requirements are as follows:

Are motorized scooters or golf carts allowed in Courthouse Estates?

Electric powered scooters or motorized scooters are allowed on city streets, sidewalks or bike paths. Electric powered scooters with 2 wheels can be driven on city streets. Please review VA Beach City Code 7-59.1 through 7.59.3 for more information.

Golf carts are not legal on any Courthouse Estates street or pathway. For more information about golf carts, see VA Beach City Code chapter 7.65.

Do I need to get approval from the ACC to build a shed?

Yes. You must submit an ACC application. Sheds must meet the requirements of the ACC Guidelines, which includes, but is not limited to, having the roof shingled to match the house, and having the siding either painted of sided to match the house. Do not forget to include your shed when replacing your roof. If the shingles are changed on the roof of the house, they must also be changed on the roof of the shed. What are the association guidelines for selling my home?

You will need to provide a Sales Disclosure Package to the buyer. You can obtain the Sales Disclosure Package from United Property Associates. Here are some steps you can take to help keep the disclosure process stress free.

What day is the Garbage/Recycling Collected on?

Garbage is collected every Tuesday. Trash bins should be at the street by 7:00 a.m. the day of collection. The earliest you can put your garbage bin out is Monday evening at 5:00 p.m. Bins must be removed from the street and placed either behind the rear foundation of the house, within a fenced yard, or in the garage by 7:00 p.m. on collection day.

NOTE: Please do not place your grass clipping bags at the curb until the morning of trash collection. It is a violation of city code and of Courthouse Estates to place them out at any other time.

The “blue” recycling bin is collected every other Tuesday. If you're not sure of the next recycling collection date, call Waste Management at (757) 385-4650.

How much does it cost to advertise in the Crier Newsletter?

The Crier is published on a quarterly basis. Advertising rates are as follows:
